Our Approach
Dr. Berg uses a systematic approach for diagnosing and treating your foot pain. By addressing every relevant factor, we can get you feeling better faster.
These include assessing and discovering:
- Your level of inflammation or injury
- Your foot mechanics/foot structure
- Your posture
- Your current footwear, lifestyle, and goals
In addition to a physical exam, we employ imaging modalities including X-ray and ultrasound right in our office. When necessary, you may be referred for more advanced Imaging, such as a CT or MRI, for further evaluation of your foot or ankle.
Typical Foot Problems Seen in Our Office Where We Use this Approach
Treatment
Often faulty foot mechanics and suboptimal foot structure are the underlying cause of your foot pain. After a thorough analysis, our doctors use a variety of tools and techniques tailored to your particular foot problem while aligning with your lifestyle and goals.
Treatments may include:
- Taping
- Splinting
- Stretching
- Injections
- Physical Therapy
- Orthotics (see below)
If conservative methods have been exhausted, and you still have pain, your doctor may recommend surgery.
Inserts and Orthotics to Match Your Foot Problem and Lifestyle
Many of our patients require foot support and stability to resolve their pain. After identifying the source of pain and discussing your lifestyle and treatment goals, our doctors will help choose the best insert or orthotic for you. These solutions are not one-size-fits-all, but range from a simple, inexpensive insert to a prescriptive orthotic.
If you have foot pain, you want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Our doctors will use the methods described above to get you back on your feet as soon as possible. Call us at 206-368-7000 or request an appointment online. We often can do same day appointments.
