Do flat feet cause heel pain?
If you have flat feet you are at greater risk for developing a condition called plantar fasciitis which is the most common type of heel pain. People like you with a flexible flatfoot (the technical name for this condition) have arches that pronate or fall inward when walking or engaging in other activities. This causes the arch to lengthen, thereby stretching the plantar fascia (the tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot) too much, causing small tears where your the plantar fascia inserts into your heel. If you have flat feet or notice that your foot collapses inward when you walk and you’re experiencing heel pain, make an appointment with one of our Seattle podiatrists by calling 206-368-7000 or request an appointment online. We’ve been treating heel pain for people who have flat feet for over 30 years.
