Where ever I go during holiday season, I constantly run into singles, couples, and families walking their dogs. Although, I wholeheartedly recommend walking all year long to my diabetic patients and anyone who wants to stay healthy, doing any kind of walking can become problematic if you have painful feet.

If you notice heel pain when you get out of bed in the morning and the thought of walking Spot makes you cringe, the Foot and Ankle Center of Lake City can help you get back to doing what you love.

Heel pain or plantar fasciitis is one of the common conditions I see as a Seattle podiatrist. What is this condition and what causes it? Plantar fasciitis is an inflammation of the connective tissue which begins at the heel, travels across the arch, and inserts into the base of the toes. It can become inflamed and painful for many reasons, however certain people are at greater risk for this condition.

Those who are or have:

  • Age 40-60, although young people can also acquire it
  • Very active or are athletes
  • Poor or faulty foot mechanics
  • Overweight or obesity
  • Inappropriate footwear
  • Women

Fortunately there are many ways to resolve this painful condition including reducing the inflammation, reducing calf tightness, use of orthotics, physical therapy, and getting proper footwear.

If you’re in acute pain and either don’t have anyone to walk poor Spot or can’t cajole anyone else in your household to walk her, hire a dog walker in Seattle.

We’d be happy to help you get back to a pain free life and keeping the love of your life happy. Call us at 206-368-7000 or request an appointment online.
